How to Get Interested in Fashion

I want to do this! What’s This? ..
I have met many, MANY women who tell me that they “know nothing about fashion.” After reading fashion magazines religiously most of my life so far, I realized that magazines are not enough. It is one thing to see a picture of an outfit and think it is pretty, but another to grasp the concept of what fashion truly means.
Instructions.Things You’ll Need:
Magazines
Time
Energy
1. Break out the style magazines. Okay, I said magazines are “not enough”… I didn’t say that they were worthless. Studying a fashion magazine means starting from scratch.
2. Do research on designers. Once you can look at an outfit and start naming off who could have designed it, you can feel very proud. Know who Coco Chanel is; Know who Carolina Herrera is; Know who Michael Kors is, etc.
3. Monkey see, monkey do. It took me until age 20 to actually take advice from my fashion magazines. Yes, that is right; 2 years ago I just bought them to be envious, because I was too scared to try anything trendy. Don’t let it happen to you! Actually try to capture the look you love so much in that magazine. Be bold.
4. Build your fashion knowledge base. Have you ever looked at an outfit on television that you think is cute, but then the host pops up pretending to puke? You must figure out WHY that ‘cute outfit’ is ‘puke’. Common fashion knowledge is often confused with conforming. But the truth is, no matter how cute something can be on its own, if it is the wrong color, a bad silhouette, or on the wrong body type, it can mean a world of difference. So learn WHY mom jeans aren’t in!!!
5. Have personal taste. In a perfect world, every woman could get by for thinking EVERYTHING is beautiful. But there is nothing worse than being in a group of women who all look the same. You need to have your own taste; your own fashion sense. Don’t be afraid to stand out!
6. Learn what fashion truly is. It is key to respect fashion if you want to be ‘into’ it. Fashion lets people express who they are; it always has. It shows culture, personality, and creativity. It, in short, is art.
