Susan Boyle overthrows Taylor Swift in Billboard Hot 200 with new album ‘The Gift’
Back in November 2009 Susan Boyle smashed charts and made history with her debut album I Dreamed A Dream. 12 months later she’s here again with the sophomore effort The Gift topping charts in the first week after the release.
Susan Boyle’s The Gift has secured the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 200 album chart with 318,000 copies sold in its first week. The album’s success is so great that it enables Susan overthrow Taylor Swift who has been dominating the charts for the last two weeks with her new album Speak Now.
Singing is the best job in the world, it really is fantastic. To have a second No.1 album is wonderful and something I never expected,” Susan Boyle told Pop Eater. “I’ve never felt happier in all my life. This is an amazing result.”
Susan Boyle’s holiday album The Gift is aimed at “touching hearts” with Christmas classics like ‘The First Noel’ and ‘O Holy Night’ as well as a cover of rocker Lou Reed’s 1972 classic ‘Perfect Day.’
I wanted there to be a mix of songs that would flow with all our moods this holiday season,” Susan Boyle told about her album. “As much as the season is a time for reflection, it is also a time for fun and enjoyment with those closest to us.”
